This spring, Jennifer Greenburg accepted the invitation to work outside her photo-frame and collaborate on the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation's Public Art Initiative "K-9's for Cops." The work will display on Michigan Ave. with 300 other statues and eventually be on permanent display at the Kinzie Hotel in downtown Chicago.

Before and a progress images shown above reveal the work Greenburg has done on her German shepherd statue to date. Greenburg worked with a vendor to apply a custom vinyl inkjet like those used in the auto-industry to the statue. The image applied to the statue is the Chicago skyline from the 1930's, a period in American history when we also faced financial and cultural uncertainty, and thus reiterates themes from her usual art practice into a new and different arena.
