Established and Emerging Artists

As a fine art dealer and gallery, we champion established and emerging contemporary artists specializing in yet not limited by photography. The Gallery’s artists have formal training in art (Bachelor of Fine Arts or Master of Fine Arts degrees) and are in established public collections. Our contemporary artists have dedication to their practice and intend for their contemporary artwork to accomplish more than adornment; they create art to serve a higher purpose. Their artwork marks our time, causes us to consider new perspectives, calls for us to re-assess the ethics of societal “norms” and their constructs, and generally inspires dialog on the nature of life and humanity through visual language.

The artists represented by jdc Fine Art gallery thoughtfully navigate traditional and contemporary bounds, rooting and employing the foundations of art history while adding a verse or pushing its definitive bounds. The gallery’s artists engage in extended, nuanced study; employ intricate or structured/reasoned practices; and often hybridize their fine artworks. In addition to direct photographic approaches resulting in traditional chemical or pigment prints, viewers will discover artists that employ photography in alternative or unique processes, create other photo-dependent or lens-driven works such as artists' books, video or audio work, or create photographic works dependent on interdisciplinary techniques. An increasing number of our represented artists aim to produce more limited editions, unique works, even non photo-based prints, and 3-dimensional works. In 2021 jdc Fine Art marks 10 years in business and makes space for a broader range of works by our contemporary artists with the intent to underlining the nuance and complexity of their fine art practice and more closely ally their fine art work within the greater contemporary art landscape. As we make this subtle shift in scope, we acknowledge both the unseen aspects of the photograph and welcome new media into our fold.

Previously Exhibited Artists

In an effort to give patrons a greater scope of the work we have supported in past gallery exhibitions, we include this section. We will always feel personal connection to the work of these contemporary photographers and a pride in presenting their work publicly. We have presented these artists in solo exhibitions in our gallery, in art fairs, or both. We continue to maintain ties with these artists, and though we do not currently represent them formally as a photography art dealer, we hope to remain a source supporting information on aspects of their practice, particularly as snapshot to their work at a moment in time, or their greater exhibition history.

Images selected follow one of two tendencies: a sampling of works leaning heavily to specific and previously exhibited work, or a more broad view. In both cases, any relevant supporting texts (exhibition press releases, featured editorials/reviews, etc.) will be included on these pages, as will links to artist’s sites. If we maintain a more active affinity with the artist or simply (and regrettably) do not have the time to balance representing them, we will endeavor to bridge support by sampling select historic and new works in addition to “previously exhibited” images. We enjoy following the ongoing development of these established and emerging contemporary artists and encourage our patrons to do the same.
