German artist Thomas Kellner creates architectural photo-collages of iconic landmarks. Working directly with his camera and 35 mm. film, Kellner strategically photographs his subjects in sections. His images are planned, and spontaneous. His approach toys with deconstruction/construction and references cubism. The effect is a playful visual puzzle. The resulting image is more than a sum of its parts, as each section of film acts as both element and as part of a whole.
Kellner's work has exhibited internationally, and is in such collections as The George Eastman House, Art Institute of Chicago, Boston Athenaeum, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and Westdeutscher Rundfunk, Cologne among others.
